Carolina Vila - Caracas, Venezuela

Carolina Vila was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela. She graduated from the prestigious Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in 1994, obtaining a Bachelor degree in Mass Communications with a concentration in Film and Television Production. After college, she worked as a radio and press Journalist for several years, but her dream was to become a filmmaker. In 1997 the Venezuelan government awarded her with a scholarship for outstanding academic achievements. She decided to come to the United States to obtain her graduate degree in Film Production at the Cinema-Television School at USC in Los Angeles. Her short film, entitled "roam" has been recognized in several film festivals, including Sundance, and was awarded 'Best Latino Short Film' by the Directors Guild of America. She currently works as a filmmaker in Los Angeles and Caracas and teaches television and film production courses at two of the most prestigious universities in Venezuela.
